CAMP Q

Welcome to the Camp Q Blog, where the world can keep up with what Jennifer (42), Ben (10), Daniel (6), Rachel (3), and (sometimes) Jeff (43) are doing this summer for fun. Our goal is to have adventure and learning while spending little to no money as possible! This first blog will start to catch everyone up on our activities so far this summer.....starting with learning how to blog!
Day 1, Wed, June 4th, 2008:
We made our first outing to Bay's Mountain Park. Funny, we ran into Torey Bates and her grandmother there. We saw two baby turkey vultures outside the museum. They were "as cute as ugly can get" according to Ben. We also saw a cute wild baby deer that was not part of the park, he had wandered through. Animals we saw were wolves, deer, snakes, otters, owls, lizards, turtles, fish and more. When we arrives at the park and got out of the car we could hear the cicadas buzzing in the trees.
There were thousands of them in the trees above our heads. The noise was so loud, kind of like crickets. For more information about cicadas Click here: Cicada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.Day2, Thurs, June 5th, 2008:
We had a showing of our house today. Broke our necks to get it clean. We tried to get out of the house as early as possible to avoid anyone messing it up.
First off we had breakfast at our "favorite" place (but not a healthy place), McDonalds and went with Jennifer to her doctor's appointment. She is having trouble with her left hand. Turns out, she needs an x-ray.
Afterwards, we had lunch with Jeff at a Chinese restaurant. On the way home, we were lucky to drive past and stop at a local tire store that had Tony Kanaan's Indy car and the shell Formula 1 car.
Day3, Friday, June 6th, 2008:
Today we went on a picnic in Sugar Hollow Park. It only cost $1 to get to the area that had tables, a playground, and a beautiful creek that is fun to walk and in. We had lots of fun, we almost caught a crawdad, found an old tire that must have floated down the river, and Ben had to rescue Rachel from a rock (that she really could get off).

When the hot day and tiring day was over we cooled down and had some more fun at the pool.Day 4, Sat, June 7, 2008:
Today, we got adventurous and thought we would try to take Rachel to the movies to see "Kung Fu Panda". She barely made it through the previews and we saw about 10 minutes before mom had to take her out. Jennifer and Rachel went to WalMart instead (no surprise) and got Rachel's hair cut. The boys enjoyed the movie. I guess we will try taking Rachel again next year.
That afternoon we went to the "Seasons" (formerly known as "HPW") picnic at Steel Creek Park. It was HOT! We had a nice time, Jeff was a little late, he had to make a quick stop at the urgent care to get his neck checked out. Seems to be a muscle strain or injury.
Tried to go to the pool, couldn't. It was closed for a private party.
